The Gospel of John and Sonship – Session 1

Chapter 1 of the Gospel according to Saint John

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:1‭-‬3 KJV‬

In the beginning we here about the Word and God. This happens for three verses.
We are going to watch the Journey of the Word to Life and from Life to Light and from Light to Son.
All these will be explaining Jesus Christ the one whom the Gospel of John speaks about. These are interchangeable names until we arrive to the testimony of John in verse 34 that declares him as The Son of God.
When God speaks in creation the Word comes out of His mouth.
This Word that comes out of God is Jesus Himself but not yet revealed.
This Word is in the beginning.
Though He is Life, Though He is Light, by at the beginning He is addressed as Word.
Word is the form Jesus takes when creation is about to happen. Before Life is there before Light is there, in the beginning in Darkness, in Formlessness! There is Word on standby waiting for God to speak it to that situation.
This is a critical position and it needs your attention.
Verse 1 to verse 3 is a situation that is here even in our everyday situation.
Here is another explanation of the same from Genesis1:
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:1‭-‬2 Genesis 1 helps us even further to show that there were Three Persons on One.‬
John 1verse 1 speaks of God and Word. Genesis 1verse 1 to 2 speaks of God and Spirit. Therefore we can conclude that there was God, The Word and Spirit all waiting to work together to bring form to bring shape and to bring life and to bring light.
There are situations this day that are without form without shape without life and without light and when these situations appear there is Word that has to begin things.
This is why Jesus is addressed here as Word because Word comes in places which are nameless without definition places that are so empty that no word can explain.Word comes to bring words and names and shapes and even in the nations even in people and families there comes this time where you have no form, you are void, you just cannot explain what is happening to your life.
There comes a time when you want nothing else but just to go back to the beginnings.
This is the time when you come empty and become a blank page waiting for the Writer who is God to put the Word in the pages of your life, Word that will bring many words and many testimonies in the time to come.
John brings this across to remind us the foundations of all creations are the Word ready to be spoken by God.
Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Psalms 107:19‭-‬20 KJV‬

This was the beginning for these people as they cried to the Lord in their trouble. He responded by Sending The Word to heal them to deliver them from their restrictions.
The Word is not working on His own but always on standby waiting to be Sent by God to heal and deliver.
To bring shape and life and light.
Therefore Word is waiting to be Sent.
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

To Prophet Isaiah this same vision which was seen by John also appeared to him.
This is the same Word who was in the beginning and He volunteered to be sent by God.
There is a cry that comes from a place even from one person unknown to the city and for just one person God can bring the new beginnings and these beginnings come with The Word.
This situation was also seen by Apostle Paul as he spoke to the church of Rome.
Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:7‭-‬9 KJV‬
This Word is in the mouth of God from His Spirit.
The same Word is just in our mouth from the same Spirit who wants to enter and stay in us to make new beginnings.
Just as He speak the Word from His mouth, he wants to have a nation which will be like him and speak the Word to all situations.
The Word is waiting in our mouth to be spoken to situations that are without form, without life, without light or shape.
Today as people who have never had an encounter with Jesus we can speak like God spoke to the beginnings.
As people who have Jesus in our lives we can continue to all over to speak the Word for when we speak the Word we speak Jesus to the beginnings of every thing we encounter around us.
These are the first three verses of the book of John chapter 1 and we will attempt to do more verses in the next session.
Shalom

  1. I am exploring the journey that The Father took His Son to travel from Being Word to being Life to being Light and being Son visible to us all. I want to have a time of exploring all these four stages and link them to our sonship as journey to our Maturity in Sonship. Beginning from the Word- Doctrine of Sonship to Life of Sonship to Light-Understanding of Sonship and to Fellowship-Son of Sonship.
