There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
John 1:6-8 KJV
Luke 1: 13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. 15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
Then this same earthly mandate of John is repeated by an angel speaking to Zecharias:
Luke 1: 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Then how did we turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to this great mission and reduced him to JOHN THE BAPTIST?
The new believers need not have a toned down version of the mandate of John, Luke has a detailed account concerning John’s mandate including how he was born.
I had an honor of receiving this teaching concerning the birth of John from Dad Apostle Ricci Hausley Sr in my first week of meeting him.
If John (the Baptist) as we traditionally know him was supposed to turn the hearts of fathers to sons and the hearts of sons to fathers; he would not be able to take people where he did not go.
God had to first deal with John’s father to truly father John in God’s requirement.
The heart of John’s father had to be first turned to this son called John before John would turn the hearts of other fathers to sons.
The fathers are the first ones required to turn their hearts to sons before sons respond likewise.
God begins with the father and priest Zecharias in doing what was going to be done by his son John to many fathers to come.
Luke dedicated the whole chapter 1 detailing the birth of John as well as the responsibilities of John’s father to John.
Before John was going to teach many fathers how to turn their hearts to sons he had to be properly fathered as well.
Dad always said to me: Son you can never take people where you have not gone.
There are many people who come to the spiritual maternity wards to welcome new believers while their hearts are not ready to father but just looking at New Members.
It is time that New Believers be received as Sons and not just as members in the Kingdom.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:12 KJV
It should be explained to New Believers that they are given the Sonship Power from the first day they come other than just the Membership Power of a specific denomination.
God wanted Zecharias to do things right in welcoming John as a Son in his household.
Zechariah was not ready to father just like many who want New Members in their churches while not ready to raise them as sons.
And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
Luke 1:18-20 KJV
Zacharias pulled a protest that many fathers are pulling today trying to show why they are not ready to father.
The angel of the Lord said “I am not just an ordinary Angel chosen to deliver these news! I serve in the very presence of God! For this reason you shall be struck dumb until you understand your duties as a father!”
This was Angel Gabriel! Same angel that was going to appear to Mary and Joseph!
I want to say to New Believers your birth is as important as that of John, and the present Zechariases who will take your birth for granted will be struck dumb until they understand their fathering duties.
You are not just New Members, you are Sons!
It is not just ordinary angels announcing your birth!
A special Angel has been sent to announce your Sonship, not just Membership!
God is raising Fathers who will turn their hearts to you in this season!
You shall have the revelation of Sonship just as you enter this Kingdom. Fathers will be struck dumb until you are born until they know that they have been called to convey their dream to your vision.
We shall see in the next instalment how Zecharias responded to this new lifestyle of being dumb while waiting for his son to be born.
This was the ninth session of the online conference titled: The Gospel from John on Sonship.
