The Gospel from John on Sonship Session 12

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 1:11‭-‬14 KJV

There will be a big mistake if you address verse 12 without verse 11.

Verse 12 is a continuation of verse 11.

Verse 11 says He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Now this is a very sad part of this mission of Jesus.

If we were to look at his mission as beginning and ending in verse 11 this would be very discouraging for us who come after him.

Inside verse 11 we have a story of many prophets and apostles.

Inside verse 11 we have stoning and killing of prophets, scribes and wisemen.

The making of our Sonship is not in us being received but it is in the wilderness of not being received.

Not to be received can mean many things for many people.

To some; not being received means closing doors of their local church. To others; not being received means closing down of their television station.

Not being received to some can mean a very low membership in church.

Not being received to some means their books are written but not read.

When servants are not received it can mean there are NO WAGES!

When servants are not received it can mean END OF CAREER!

But thanks be to God for He sent A Son!

Sons have no problem of rejection, in fact the ministries of Sons are born in Rejection, they are born in insignificance!

Sons come to ministry having been affirmed by their fathers.

When the people of this world do not receive you they are already late because before you even began with your ministry as Son; Father already declared from heavens: THIS IS MY BELOVED SON IN WHOM MY SOUL IS WELL PLEASED!

There are many ministries in Africa that suffers from a Rejection Syndrome.

Every television program is about validating the authenticity of the ministry or the Man of God.

They spend time and resources trying to woo their audiences to prefer one ministry over the other.

Because of this fear of rejection they are trapped in a capitalistic competition.

They have more billboards on freeways than all businesses in the cities.

Their programs always have to begin and end with the words: Truly you are a Man of God! Truly this is the right church!

They spend their resources on validation than on giving the message that the world is looking for.

The bible says Jesus came to his own and they received him not.

I know of places in our continent where Jesus would be sent to a certain prophet so that he will have ministry breakthrough!

Slaves and servants can die when they are not received because their wages will not be there.

Slaves, orphans ministries and servant minded are all looking for validation and they are ready to go to lengths of deliverance just for them to be accepted in their communities.

We have a very popular trend in Africa where our clergy has gone to spiritualist just to have powers of being accepted in their places of ministry.

Ministry has become a big industry which can never tolerate the John 1:11 experience from their capitalistic approach.

Jesus paid a price to bring sons home, we want to be paid a price to bring member customers to our organizations.

Let me put it in an easy way; when fathers go out to look for sons they pay but when servants go out to recruit members they get paid.

This does not in any way stand against sowing seed to the Kingdom via the grace carrier that God has ordained to receive on His behalf.

My story to you this evening is that you cannot understand the great mission of John 1:12 if you keep avoiding the reality of John 1:11.

If Jesus experienced verse 11 as the owner and landlord of the whole earth think twice when you want to see verse 12 without verse 11.

Back to Africa; I see many television ministries being on the race of validation than on the mission of raising sons.

But God has already raised a new sound, I have been comforted by the rise of Apostolic Fathers who have come in great grace love to bring the sons back home.

This fulfills the greatest promise Jesus gave when He said He will build His Church. To God be the glory!

Shalom
